Take a bold step into Illinois' second largest city -- The City of Lights -- Aurora! Although Aurora is politically divided into several different wards, the city is more commonly regarded as being divided into three regions: The West Side (located west of the Fox River), The East Side (which covers the region east of the Fox River, but stops at the Dupage County Line), and Fox Valley (also called the Far East Side, located east of the Dupage County line). The Fox Valley name is rather deceiving considering this region is actually not located on the Fox River at all. The name was given because of the close proximity to the Westfield Fox Valley Mall and the Fox Valley Villages, which was one of the first housing developments to be constructed after the mall. There are also a large number of neighborhoods in each of these different regions that should not go unheard of:

Far East Side

Ashton Pointe: Located near the intersection of the two major rail lines, this neighborhood is a collection of townhouses and condominiums built on the border of Aurora and Naperville.

East Side

Copleyville: This neighborhood is known for being the most densely populated neighborhood in the whole city. It is located east of Dutchtown and south of the Near East side, and surrounds the now vacant Copley Memorial Hospital.

Dutchtown: The neighborhood was once predominately populated by German immigrants during the first half of the 20th century. It is located east of Copleyville and south of Uptown.

Near East Side: This neighborhood is one of the oldest in Aurora. It is located between Downtown and Uptown and contains several large, older homes that date as far back as the 1870s.

Pigeon Hill: The former neighborhood where Romanian and other Eastern European immigrants flocked during the late 1800s. This neighborhood can be found just east of the Fox River, north of Indian Creek.

Sherwood Glen: This area is just east of downtown, and has a number of large homes from the first half of the 20th century. This neighborhood is also known for being the center of Aurora's strong Hispanic culture.

Northwest Side

Downtown: The historical part of downtown is considered to be the heart of Aurora, and is home to a number of large historical buildings that date back to the early 1900s. Many new developments including the River Street Plaza Condo development and Downer Place Lofts have made this place accessible for those that like to live in historical areas, but still with the comforts of more modern and contemporary living. There are also a number of new businesses that have opened and thrived, the most popular being the Hollywood Casino. This neighborhood is home to the popular 22-story LeLand Hotel that was built back in 1921, which housed the Sky Club (a former Blues recording studio). The building was once considered to be the tallest building in Illinois outside of Chicago, but today has been refurbished to serve as apartments.

Far West Side

Cherry Hill: This upper-middle class neighborhood is located south of Galena Boulevard, near Blackberry Historical Farm.

Sans Souci: An upscale neighborhood that was built in the 1960s and 70s that has long, winding streets.

Lakeside Sans Souci: This neighborhood is a continuation of Sans Souci.

West Side

Riddle Highlands: Located on the West Side, off North Lake Street and West Illinois Ave. It's considered to be a charming section of the city with its large, older homes that date as far back as the early 1900s. Here you can also find the Northgate Shopping Center.

Little Italy: This neighborhood was once populated by Italian immigrants, and once contained a number of older manufacturing firms.

East Side

Near East Side: This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Aurora, and is located between Downtown and Uptown. There are a number of older homes here as well.

Southeast Side

Hometown: This is one of the most successful new home communities in the country. Hometown offers single-family homes at townhome prices, has traffic-calmed streets, neighborhood parks, living courts, private cul-de-sacs, gazebos, and many homes are characterized by their big bay windows.

No matter which Aurora Illinois zip code you find yourself in, you are sure to find a dream home that meets all of your needs and more!
